About Jim

Jim started working at the Menninger Foundation at 18 to pay for college. He had no it would lead to a rewarding career in mental health.

Jim earned his MSW from the University of Denver. He studied cognitive behavioral therapy for six years at the Menninger Foundation and studied at the Beck Institute. He is skilled in family therapy, gestalt therapy, and has advanced certification in EMDR. He is president of both - Shunga Creek Mental Health Services and The Panic Treatment Center in Topeka.

Jim believes exercise and physical health are important aspects of mental health. This has evolved from his lifelong interest in fitness. Currently, he enjoys biking, hiking, strength training, kayaking, golf, and slow pontoon boat rides around the lake at sunset.

Jim uses his therapy dog to help patients feel more comfortable and relaxed.
